Municipal election results - Thank you for running!

Last month, Cabarrus County elected many of our endorsed candidates for municipal offices.

The two incumbent endorsees retained their offices.

These were: Concord City Council Member Betty Stocks, running unopposed to continue representing Concord's District 3, and current Kannapolis City Council member Jeanne Dixon, representing all of Kannapolis.

Our remaining endorsees were newcomers to public office.

Newly elected Alvarys Santana will represent Concord's District 4 on the Concord City Council, Isaac Davis of Midland will serve on the Midland Town Council, and Harrisburg's Dr. Erin Banks will serve on the Harrisburg Town Council.

Several candidates who were not victorious nonetheless came very close to earning the most votes.

Justin Lewter, candidate for Kannapolis mayor, received 2,059 votes from Kannapolis voters, only 198 fewer than the victor's total. Kannapolis City Council candidate Holden Sides also came very close to earning a majority of Kannapolis votes. He received 1,928 votes, only 58 fewer than the winning total.

Alyce K. Williams, our endorsee for mayor of Concord had two opponents, including a former County Commissioner and a current Concord City Council member. Ms. Williams received the second most votes, 32% of the total. Candidate for Harrisburg mayor Steve Sciascia, received 1,404 votes, 620 fewer than his opponent, the incumbent mayor.

Regardless of the outcome, every campaign and every candidate helped make Cabarrus County a better place. Your many speeches, canvasses, social media posts and community events helped everyone learn more about the issues and each other. Thank you!

We hope you will continue to contribute and build a healthier, happier and more prosperous future for all us Cabarrus County residents. We appreciate you all!
