ORGANIZING A PRECINCT
Are you interested in organizing your precinct? We're excited that you're ready to jump in! Here are the steps you'll take...
Find your precinct, using the link below! You'll enter your information on a third-party site and find your polling place and associated precinct number (e.g., 02-15). Once you have that, navigate to our precinct page and double-check to be sure it isn't already organized. If it is, you'll want to reach out to the Precinct Chair to be added to the rolls!
Contact us to let us know that you are interested in organizing your precinct. In your neighborhood, you may want to reach out to others who are registered Democrats at this time and invite them to help organize!
Organize a meeting. This can be a very informal meeting in someone's home, and you will need at least 5 people there. During the course of the meeting, you will need to elect a precinct Chair, Vice-Chair, a Secretary and Treasurer. The Secretary / Treasurer is often one position, but if there is someone interested in filling the other office, it can be two. For additional details, read about it in our Plan of Organization.
Contact us and let us know the results of the meeting. After that, we'll be in touch shortly to help you start working within your precinct. We will also provide you with a handbook that has been developed for precinct leaders.
